Allen Mills is a partner in the law firm of TOMS MILLS & KURUC PLLC
Allen is a native of Louisville, Kentucky. He attended college at Lake Forest College in Illinois and graduated with a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Kentucky in 1986. He earned his J.D. from the University of Minnesota in 1989.
Allen’s early professional experience was in public interest law and included family law, civil rights, disability, employment, bankruptcy, and landlord/tenant disputes. He then took a position with the Minneapolis subrogation law firm of Yost & Baill, PLLP where he litigated a high volume of auto and property subrogation claims.
After moving to North Carolina, Allen took a position with a property & casualty insurer and managed litigation and arbitration of insurance subrogation files of all types.
Allen joined Frederic E. Toms & Associates in December of 2001. Since that time he has developed a full-time subrogation practice. He handles all manner of property, casualty and auto subrogation, ERISA liens, workers' compensation liens, and employee dishonesty claims. His most significant subrogation recovery was a health insurance recovery against the North Carolina Insurance Guaranty Association, which wrongfully denied reimbursement of health benefits mistakenly paid as the result of a work related injury.
In addition to his subrogation practice Allen handles personal injury and construction litigation.
Allen lives in Raleigh with his wife, Twila.
