Joan Kuruc is a partner in the law firm of TOMS MILLS & KURUC PLLC

Joan earned her law degree at Loyola University Chicago School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts with Honors at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Joan focuses her practice in the following areas: Personal Injury/Workers’ Compensation Law and Construction and Lien Law. Her clients include people seriously injured in automobile accidents and workers who have been injured on the job or who have had their workers’ compensation claims denied.

In addition, she represents general contractors, subcontractors and suppliers on both public and private projects. Typical contract and construction disputes involve scheduling and performance issues, unjust termination, delay and disruption, and lien and bond claims.

Joan is an experienced trial attorney. She began her career with a small law firm in Chicago practicing exclusively in labor and employment law. She then spent more than seven years with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office where she took hundreds of cases to trial and was a staunch advocate for the victims of crime. Since her return to North Carolina in 2002, Joan has practiced exclusively in civil litigation.
